Busy day today, lots of out and about. Nothing too interesting though.
First thing in the morning was going to our first day of Language School! While there, we had to do a test and then get our orientation. The orientation was pretty straight forward (just explaining the absence rules), but the test was a doozie.
It's a placement test, but boy did it highlight how little I know of Japanese. There was a written portion and an interview portion, and I bombed both. We will still get into the course though, so that's good. Looking forward to actually having our class tomorrow!
Next stop was City Hall to fill out some forms to get registered as a resident of Koto City (the area that the share house is in). When leaving the Language School, there was another share house resident (Felix) going the same way, so we all tagged along together. We all grabbed lunch at a Sukiya (restaurant chain in Japan).
After lunch, we met up with our World Unite! guide and went to City Hall. It was just a bunch of waiting, and luckily our guide filled out most of the forms for us. Some of the people working at City Hall actually knew English, so that was nice! We also signed up for the National Health Care, so good to know I'm covered in case anything goes wrong.

This whole time I've been without a phone because World Unite! was going to set that up for me. Today was the day for that, and we also got my Bank Account set up. Or at least, both the applications are in. Now I need to still wait a few days for my SIM card and Bank Card to come in the mail. Ugh.
By the time everything was set up and all forms filled out, it was supper time. We decided to go to a restaurant that was just around the corner from us. A small Ramen shop where nobody spoke English, that only had 3 tables and some bar stools. Luckily we can read a bit of Japanese, so we were able to somewhat know what we were ordering. The staff we very nice too, and the food was delicious!
The only downside was that smoking was allowed in the restaurant, so it didn't smell the best.
